Student Spotlight

Student Spotlight

For years I’ve heard people say they do not know the youth in our church.  Well, let me tell you, the youth are fantastic!  They are active, involved, smart, and kind.  I’m hoping that the new “Student Spotlight” will give the congregation insight into the lives of our youth, and maybe even give you reason to speak to them while eating donuts!

Ryan Templeman:  Ryan is a 6th grader at Cherokee Trail Elementary School.  He is an official member of PUMC as he recently completed the confirmation process. Playing soccer and bike racing are his favorite activities.  He also enjoys computers, cats, and is a genius at solving any Rubik’s cube.  You might remember Ryan from many productions here at PUMC, including his role as “Winthrop” in “A Music Man” in 2007.  Ryan has been attending PUMC for 10 years.  He says he likes coming to our church “because they make me feel at home.”

Sydney White:  Sydney is a sophomore at Chaparral High School where she is on the cross-county, track, and basketball teams.  Sydney is also involved in DECA, which prepares leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.   She also enjoys hiking and cheering on the Wolverines at High School sporting events. Sydney is a regular face on Sundays rarely missing SundaySchool or Youth Group.  She is the leader of the Youth Welcome Team, which means she reaches out to new people, makes them feel welcome, and ensures they get information about the youth program.  Sydney likes to be involved because she “wants to grow in her faith and help other others too.” Her favorite part of PUMC is “the donuts and how welcoming people are.“
