Learning to Be Leaders

Greetings Everyone,

Beginning a new year brings new opportunities.  If you have ever wondered about what is involved in church leadership or about the United Methodist connectional system, here are two upcoming leadership learning opportunities that every adult in our church is welcomed to attend.  Each event needs a registration form filled out and sent to that registrar; this can be accomplished by contacting Mel in the office or myself.  These registrations give opportunities for your choices and are important to that event’s planning team.  The costs are already covered by our finance committee.

First of all is Saturday, February 7th, at Castle Rock UMC, 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

This is a time when church members can learn about certain committees and their responsibilities: trustees, staff parish, finance/church treasurers; missions and lay leader/lay member.

The second opportunity will be the District Conference on Saturday, March 7th at our church, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm.

The theme is “Renewing Creation” with the Rev. Peter Sawtell as the keynote speaker.  Our District Superintendent, Rev. Melanie Rosa, will lead us in a short business meeting and a time to honor Quiet Disciples and Lay Servants from our local churches.  Then there are six workshops of which you can select two.  (As we are the host church for the District Conference, we need help in several ways that day.  Please let me know if you would be willing to come early [8:00 am] to help out!)

May God continue to guide, heal and protect you in this new year.

Ruth Wills, Lay Leader
