Every December Parker United Methodist Church Hosts an Annual Community Messiah Sing!

Rehearsals for Messiah 2022 will be held Wednesday December 14, 2022 @ 7 p.m. and Saturday December 17, 2022 @ 9 a.m. Both will be held in the Parker United Methodist Church Sanctuary. All singers wishing to participate should simply show up!  We have extra copies of the music and welcome singers age high school through adult from the community, local churches, high schools, and colleges.

The Messiah selections will be  presented on Sunday December 18th during the morning worship services with a live orchestra. We would love to have singers join us! Please come and sing, share the info, or come and be a part of the morning! Please email our Director of Music, Kurt Stroman, if you have any additional questions!

A Note from our Director

In my many years as the Fine Arts Minister here at Parker UMC, I find myself surrounded by the most blessed church family anyone could ask for!

The Fine Arts Ministry at Parker United Methodist Church strives to not only provide meaningful musical worship experiences for the members of the congregation but it also is committed to providing opportunities to use the Arts as a vehicle to integrate the mission work of the Methodist tradition.

The whole PUMC family is welcome to come and participate in this energizing ministry. I invite you to come and experience wonderful fellowship, meaningful music, and the opportunity to share your gifts with our awesome God!!

Parker UMC Choir

Do you love singing classical to contemporary Christian music with a lively, welcoming group of friends? Then Choir is the place for you! We sing most Sundays at the 8:00am and 9:30 a.m. worship services. We also sing special seasonal cantatas, and participate in the annual Christmas Messiah performance. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00. We welcome new singers throughout the year. If you love to sing, and can stand a few zany musical friends, come join us. We’d love to sing with you.

Cambiata

Did you know a cambiata is a particular kind of musical tone? At Parker UMC, Cambiata is a largely contemporary musical tone, filled with praise and joy. We are members of Chorale who carry our musical enthusiasm into music of praise and worship. We rehearse from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday evenings, and sing one Sunday each month. If you need a little more musical fun, we’re always happy to welcome you into our circle.

Crossroads Gospel Band

If your musical style is Southern Gospel/Bluegrass, this is the musical small group for you. In true Bluegrass style, we set our music to guitar and banjo accompaniment. We’re always on the lookout for new players – and singers. Our rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:00. We sing monthly at Parker UMC, as well as for occasional community engagements. Contact Debbie Hootman, through the church office for more information.

Hand Bell Ringers

Are you a ringer? Have you always wanted to be a ringer? Either way, you’re invited to be a part of the wonderful world of hand bells. If you read music (or can at least count), we’ll help you figure out the rest. We play a variety of five octave musical pieces monthly at Parker UMC, and as scheduled in the community. We’d love to ring alongside you! Check us out on Monday nights at 5:45, or contact Krisha Sielaff through the church office for more information.

Sound System Techs Needed

We are always looking for people who have a head for technology and an ear for music to become trained to help run our sound system on Sunday mornings and for special events such as weddings or funerals. Email Kurt Bokenkamp to become a part of our sound system team.

Solo & Instrumental Opportunities

There are many opportunities to minister to the Parker UMC congregation as a soloist during worship services. If you feel comfortable with your art, we can find a place for you to “sing or play the Spirit”. Contact Kurt Stroman, our Director of Music to express your interest.
