Tapestry UMC Update

The Tapestry UMC Church project has officially begun! Our team of Founders had its first meeting on April 8 with all but two of our team members in attendance. We started to get to know each other a little bit (a process that will continue for time to come), had some great desserts, and we started to dream about how Tapestry UMC might grow in order to impact the communities of Parker and Lone Tree.

We started the visioning by asking ourselves the open-ended question, “If the church were to disappear, what would the local community miss?” While we are obviously not there up and running yet, it is a great place to begin the visioning. What do we want to do and be that, if we were to disappear, the community would miss? What impact can we make that would be missed if we didn’t make it?

At this point, our team is keeping our eyes open looking for opportunities to serve in and around our area. We hope to find service projects in which we as a fledgling church can get involved and for which we can invite the residents of the area to get involved with us. If you have any ideas for outreach and missions in our area, please pass them along to me at rev.patbell@yahoo.com. Also, if you are interested in being a part of this new faith community, it is not too late to help us launch. I would be happy to speak with you and share with you my hopes and goals for the next years.

Finally, I want to thank you all for all of your support and encouragement as we take the first few steps toward building something amazing for the kingdom of God in this place. It means more to us than you can know. God bless!
