Removing Busyness and Saying Yes to Prayer

Greetings Everyone,

As we begin this fall season looking ahead to new challenges at school or at our job or in our families or here at PUMC, let us not forget to thank our God for bringing us to this day and time.  This is a ‘break over’ time of the year when we still have three months and opportunity to move forward on our life’s aspirations or hopes for what we can accomplish here in 2014.  I don’t know about you, but I have items on a list that never seem to get done…they just move from one year’s list to the next year’s list.  I am aware of a solution – just take one step and then another- but the busyness of life (or maybe that is just my excuse) prevents me from taking that step.  May God help each of us in discerning and taking the next step forward in accomplishing those items in which we know we are called.

Recently I came to realize that many of you may not be aware of the Prayer Ministry of PUMC. One of the focuses of this group is the Prayer Chain which currently has twelve links.  Each link has a leader who receives a prayer concern from Rev. Pat; the leader then emails their link members to begin praying for that person or concern.  Links are given different concerns. This is a way that all the concerns that come to the church office or to our pastors can be surrounded in prayer.  Want to be on a link? Contact Rev. Pat at [email protected] or Sabrina Thompson (the chair of the Prayer Committee) at [email protected].

Do know that the Prayer Room is open and available for personal or small group prayer time all the time the church is open. Upcoming events for Prayer Ministry are: Saturday, September 27th, 9 – 11 am, Pray for the Children, at PUMC and Wednesday, November 26th, Taize Worship at 7 pm – an hour of quiet and meditative music and scripture.

God is good, all the time!

Ruth Wills, Lay Leader
